Step 1. Include your full address in your web pages (street, city, state, and zip code). Most sites place their address in the footer, however it’s better (SEO wise) to place it near the top of the webpage.  Keyword Prominence is the name of the game and by having your address closer to the top the search engine bots picks up your location quicker.

Step 2.   Use your full address in your Title and Description meta tags.  This will help you solidify for geographic location.  The rule of thumb is to keep the title tag at 65 characters and 160 characters for the description tag.  Once you have changed your titles and descriptions include your website into local directories.  For example, Yelp.com, YP.com, Google.com/places, Yahoo.com. This will allow your website to be inducted in the business listings of your local area.

Step 3.   Place your city and zip code (some how) in the contents of your webpage.  If you really want to make the search engines wag their tails, place the city and codes in the H tags (<H1>, <H2> and <H3>).  Understanding what the search engines see are critical aspects of search engine optimization.
