What is Online Reputation Management?

ORM (Online Reputation Management) is not an easy task, as we all know the web is not monitored and there are many people out there with many opinions. People can sabotage your hard work, make you look like something your not, and most importantly hurt your business. There are steps you can take to protect yourself with the proper usage of ORM.

If you find something online about you that is not true or something from years ago that you would like removed, you can first try contacting the company webmaster of the site in which your info is being shared. If that doesn’t work, if you cannot get in touch with the Webmaster, if the site owner decides to ignore you or reject your request, you can report the site to Google. Google can take up to a few months to bring down the content.

In the case you cannot get Google or other Search Engines to remove your negative content from their SERP, there are other methods. One method is to build small micro-sites and optimize them to get to the first page, the more pages and links you add to the SERP’s the further down the bad content will relocate.

Just like any site, these small sites would need to have unique content on them as well as relevancy to the topic, in most cases, a brand name. Build links targeting this brand name within the anchor text of each post/article.

Purchase multiple domains that contain your branding in them; try to get all of the characters into your domain as they are in the SERP you want to clean, the closer the URL is to the Keyword on the SERP the more likely it will rank, once you have a bunch of domains with your branding/keyword on there, its time to move on to the next step SEO.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and is used to show the search engine which site is more relevant and favored by users. The search engines want to show the best results, otherwise people would look for their answers elsewhere. SEO is a combination of link building, blogging, forum writing, interacting in your niche and onsite optimization. There are also companies available to help with you SEO such as SEO Fort Lauderdale.
